Tentative Activities

After the success of our 2010 Reunion in San Diego, we received many requests to repeat some of our activities, if we ever brought the Reunion back to San Diego. So, if there are a few which look familiar, they are back due to popular demand.

This Reunion, will include the following activities:
Tour San Diego’s famous beaches. See Mission and Pacific Beach, as well as La Jolla (where the rich and famous live and go to mingle. If you ever listened to the Beach Boys in the 1960’s you’ll appreciate and remember these beach locations.

Visit Mount Soledad (Yes, the same one you see on television and in the papers, which has been the subject of many lawsuits and even Supreme Court scrutiny over alleged church and state issues). Walk the Veterans Memorial at the top and read the hundreds of individual memorials to our veterans. From there, you can almost see to Mexico and to Los Angeles.

Tour the world famous Mary Birch Aquarium (Scripps Institute of Oceanography) in La Jolla and enjoy lunch (on your own at the aquarium’s on-site cafe).

Visit the Cabrillo National Monument. One of the oldest lighthouses in America, it overlooks the entire San Diego Skyline, North Island, Coronado, Pacific Ocean and south to Mexico. From this location you can see the area where the Salt Lake City was sunk in 1948.

See Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery and old gun emplacements on the coast dating back to WWII. Take a nighttime Dinner Cruise on San Diego Bay. Enjoy the city lights which make this city a memorable stop for visitors.

Travel to famous Balboa Park (we drove through there only in 2010) and see what has made it a popular tourist spot. You’ll visit San Diego’s Natural History Museum, tour the San Diego Air and Space Museum, home of many original aircraft and displays. Many of these are from WWII as San Diego has always been a military town and a large aircraft manufacturing center during WWII.

Just to be different, you’ll take a San Diego Harbor Cruise in an Amphibious “Duck” from WWII. Yes, the same type the Marines stormed the beaches in, only yours will have a flashy paintjob and hopefully no gunfire.

We will have lunch again at Seaport Village in downtown and you’ll have a food voucher for lunch items at select restaurants. You’ll have time also, to shop at the village, which is arguably the most popular tourist attraction in San Diego.

By popular demand, for our Banquet event, we will do another Hawaiian Luau Dinner. Food will be traditional Hawaiian cuisine as before…..maybe there will even be another group of Hawaiian Dancers to perform.

Note: Remember, as you requested, this is a 4 day Reunion. Considering this is in beautiful San Diego during the summer, the cost of this Reunion is incredibly cheap. If you can recall, in 2013, our Reunion in Nashville, cost $275.00 per person and it was only a 3 day Reunion.
