USS SLC..."Enlisted Navy"...Heyward Otis Dunham, SF1c

US FLAG Heyward O. Dunham passed away on Sat., July 14th, 2001
Jan. 2001

My name is Daniel L. Dunham. I am the eldest son of SF1c H. O. Dunham.
My father is still alive but is not in good health. He is 77 on his last birthday. He currently has Parkinson's on top of the nerve damage he received during the war.

I would appreciate any assistance you could give me to see about getting him membership in the Pearl Harbor Survivor Association. He has been told he doesn't qualify because they were not in the harbor yet that morning. The problem is, there are other members of the crew who have been received in membership. I know it doesn't sound like a lot for some but I feel if I could get this for him before he dies.

I understand the importance of remembering our veterans. I am a life time member of Vietnam Veterans of America and a life time member of Disabled American Veterans. I retired from the US Air Force in July 1987.
